Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Mehmet Özhaseki announced that the number of Blue Flag beaches has increased to 551 this year. He also said that We protect the uniquely beautiful beaches and seas of our country, which is the third in the world in the Blue Flag beach ranking, and we leave a clean environment for our future.

The number of beaches with the Blue Flag, which is accepted as an indicator of clean seas, continues to increase in Turkey. 551 beaches, 23 marinas, 14 tourism boats and 10 individual yachts, which were determined to comply with the Blue Flag criteria by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, were awarded the Blue Flag award. Minister Mehmet Özhaseki stated that Turkey continues to be the third in the world in the ranking of Blue Flag beaches.

In the statement made by the General Directorate of Environmental Management, it was noted that with the Regulation on the Management of Bathing Water Quality in Turkey, significant improvements were observed in the quality of sea water with the studies carried out on the prevention of marine pollution. It was stated that the number of beaches with Blue Flag, which is an indicator of clean seas, has increased rapidly in parallel with the increase in sea water quality. Turkey, which enters the 'Blue Flag' program, which is the most accepted eco-label applied in more than 50 countries internationally, with more and more beaches every year, was entitled to enter this year with 551 beaches, 23 marinas, 10 individual yachts and 14 tourism boats.

Türkiye Ranked Third in The World Again

In the 'Blue Flag' ranking announced by the International Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), headquartered in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, Turkey ranked third in the world with the number of beaches. Spain and Greece ranked first and second respectively, while Italy and France followed Türkiye

ANTALYA RANKS FIRST WITH 231 BLUE FLAG BEACHES

Within the scope of 2023 Blue Flag awards, Antalya ranked first with 231 blue flag beaches. Muğla ranked second with 110 blue flag beaches, while 63 of Izmir's beaches have blue flags. Balıkesir ranked fourth in the list with 46 blue flag beaches. Aydın, on the other hand, has 35 beaches with blue flags.

20 CITIES HAVE BLUE FLAG BEACHES

Samsun has 13, Çanakkale 12, Mersin 11, Kocaeli 9 and Tekirdağ 6 blue flag beaches.
