First Lady Emine Erdoğan, who is accompanying President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on his visit to the United Arab Emirates, attended the “Sustainable Development Goals 2045: Navigating the Future of Our World” event in Dubai.

Making a speech at the event, First Lady Erdoğan expressed her happiness to be attending the Sustainable Development Goals Forum, held on the margins of the World Governments Summit.

Noting that the participants of the summit numbering hundreds have gathered around the objective of conserving the earth and leaving a liveable world for future generations, First Lady Erdoğan warned that the current course of events pushes the entire humanity and all the creatures as well as every civilization towards extinction.

Every informed and conscientious decision made by human beings harbors a potential strong enough to make benevolence and wisdom prevail across the world, underlined the First Lady, and added: “If there is any hope, it is because of courageous and judicious people who take on responsibility in times of challenges. Keep in mind that hopelessness benefits only those who look for the continuation of this crooked order of consumption.”

“TÜRKİYE HAS BEEN AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE A SUPPORTER OF ANY ACTION TAKEN TO SAFEGUARD THE EARTH”

Describing the sustainable development goals and the principle of leaving no one behind as a reflection of the international solidarity in the fight against the climate crisis, First Lady Erdoğan stated: “As the plastics dumped into seas and oceans, the source of our life, reach the deepest points and poison the whole habitat just like a virus, we need to assume responsibility. Türkiye has been and will continue to be a supporter of any action taken to safeguard the earth entrusted to us and to leave a liveable world as a legacy for future generations.”

Highlighting President Erdoğan’s motto that “the World is bigger than five”, First Lady Erdoğan expressed her pleasure over the fact that the Zero Waste Movement launched in Türkiye under her auspices has gained a global quality particularly covering the least developed countries.

Further stressing that everyone is endeavoring to leave a more liveable world for children, First Lady Erdoğan added: “However, there are unfortunately too much pain, too many bleeding wounds, and too many issues awaiting urgent solution. If we as the humanity cannot stop the ongoing genocide in Gaza, if we cannot act together as regards conflicts and famine including in Ukraine, Yemen and Africa, how can we achieve the more liveable world that we keep talking about. Building permanent peace and a sustainable world rather than drawing roadmaps that put forward solutions will be our most important legacy navigating the future.”
