First Lady Erdoğan meets with First Lady Angeline Ndayishimiye of Burundi

First Lady Emine Erdoğan met with First Lady Angeline Ndayishimiye of Burundi, who is accompanying President Evariste Ndayishimiye of Burundi on his visit to Türkiye for the observance of World Cities Day tomorrow in Istanbul.

During the meeting, First Lady Erdoğan gave information about the African Culture House and Handicrafts Market, where handicrafts made by African women are put up for sale and the income is sent back to African women. 

The Burundian First Lady, for her part, shared information about the works and activities of the Fondation Bonne Action, a charitable foundation she founded.

First Lady Erdoğan described as praiseworthy the works the Burundian foundation carries out with regard to children’s nourishment, girls’ education, women’s participation in economic life, and maternal health. 

The two First Ladies also exchanged views on issues related to healthcare, education, women’s health and girls’ education as well as about the Burundian students receiving education in Türkiye.

During the meeting, First Lady Angeline Ndayishimiye also signed the Global Commitment to Zero Waste, opened for signature to encourage participation in the Global Zero Waste Movement under the leadership of First Lady Erdoğan.
